Following the discovery by the New York police of a large quantity of home-made firearms and explosives in an apartment in Queens, the two brothers were indicted on Monday.

Andrew, 39 years old, and Angelo Hatziagelis, 51 years old, face 130 charges, most of them for illegal possession of weapons.

According to the police, during the search in mid-month, they discovered a 3D printer capable of manufacturing firearms, as well as an assassination list of “police officers, judges, politicians, celebrities and bankers”.

The investigation began with a six-month investigation into the Ghost Gun in New York City, where officials stated that they had also found home-made improvised explosive devices, offensive weapons and ammunition, bulletproof vests, pyrotechnic smoke bombs, etc. in houses inhabited by brothers and other family members.

Officials noted that the discovery of large quantities of home-made weapons could cause catastrophic damage.

According to Inspector Courtney Nilan of the New York City Police Department, “a mistaken chemical mixture or a wrong wire could raze the entire building to the ground”.

It is alleged that opposite the brother’s Astoria apartment, a factory of the United Edison Company (Con Edison). Following the discovery of an active explosive device inside the apartment, a bomb squad of the New York City Police Department was called and, as a precautionary measure, residents of the area were evacuated.

According to the police, Andrew and Angelo’s ideology is extreme and anti-government, and so far they have not been connected to any known network, but they do represent an increasingly widespread threat. There is no evidence that they have plans to use these devices, or that they are targeted for assassination.
