2026年7月23日,在美国费城举办的2026国际数学家大会颁奖现场,昔日同窗的青年学者邓煜与王虹一同站上领奖台,双双斩获菲尔兹奖章。这是中国籍数学家首次摘得素有“数学界诺贝尔奖”美誉的菲尔兹奖,在中国数学发展史上写下了里程碑式的一页。
