In 2020, when the Chinese Government stomped the brakes on Maun ' s business and sidelined the country ' s best entrepreneur, it sent a firm message that no company could prevail over the Communist Party of China.

On Monday, the Supreme Leader of China, Xi Jinping, tried a different approach.

He attended a symposium of corporate giants and demonstrated support for them in times of economic instability, as did Maun, who had largely not appeared in public over the past four years.

On Monday, China Central Television was filmed at a private business symposium in Beijing by Ma Yun (left second) and other Chinese business leaders.

A video released by the official media shows that the symposium was attended by senior executives of the electronics company Hua and Mi, as well as by senior generals of the battery manufacturer Ningde and the head of the electric car giant Biadi, who from time to time applauded and took notes when he spoke. The media report did not describe what they discussed, nor did it give the names of all participants, but pointed out that Xi had listened to the statements of senior managers.

This is the first meeting with business leaders since President Trump imposed a series of tariffs on China. Trump claims that these tariffs were imposed to reduce America’s huge trade deficit with China.

Xi’s private sector has been relegated to a secondary position under Xi Jinping’s leadership. In order to promote China’s self-reliance, Xi attached greater importance to state-owned enterprises.
